The canoe is private for your group of 4 to 7, and local guides steer and adapt the two hour paddle to your pace, so no previous experience is needed. Do I need experience to paddle an outrigger canoe?

No. The guides explain the basic stroke and safety instructions before you leave the beach, and a steersperson controls the canoe throughout. Basic fitness for about two hours of paddling is enough.

Is it sunrise or sunset?

Both are offered. Sunrise paddles leave at 6:30 AM and sunset paddles at 4:30 PM. Choose the time you prefer when booking.

Will I get wet?

Yes, expect to get wet from paddling and from ocean spray. Wear a swimsuit and bring a towel and a dry change of clothes for afterward.

What is included?

The guides, the canoe, paddles and life vests, a fresh coconut (pipa) for each guest and edited GoPro footage of your paddle. Transportation to Malpaís is not included.

Where does the tour leave from?

From Pescadería de Malpaís (the fish market in Malpaís), a few minutes south of Santa Teresa. Exact arrival instructions are shared after booking. You can get there by ATV, taxi or your own vehicle.
