Cacao Tour in Cabuya
Overview
Discover cacao and chocolate through a hands on experience in Cabuya. The tour begins with a chocolate tasting before you create your own chocolate bar and learn how to temper chocolate. You will then follow cacao from the plant and seed through fermentation, sun drying, roasting, cracking, winnowing, grinding and conching. The experience also explores cacao varieties, the history of chocolate and the differences between artisan and industrial production when time allows. You will taste a range of chocolates made on site, including intense dark chocolates as well as dark milk and white chocolate. When cacao pods are available, they may also be used to help explain the plant and the process.
